Pakistan and India are Drawn into Same Group for the Women's T20 World Cup

Pakistan Women have been grouped with India Women and six-time champions Australia Women for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, as announced by the International Cricket Council on Monday. Australia, the reigning champions who defeated India by 85 runs in the 2020 final, will be defending their title.

Pakistan’s first match is set for October 3 against Sri Lanka, followed by a clash with India on October 6.

The ninth edition of the tournament, originally scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, will now take place in the UAE due to recent political unrest in Bangladesh. The matches will be hosted in Dubai and Sharjah.

The groupings remain unchanged, with Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka forming Group A, while South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland make up Group B.

Sri Lanka and Scotland earned their spots in the tournament through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year.

Each team will compete in four group stage matches, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals on October 17 and 18. The final will take place in Dubai on October 20, with reserve days scheduled for both the semi-finals and the final.

Should India reach the semi-finals, they will play in Semi-final 1.

The tournament will feature 23 matches across two venues in Dubai and Sharjah.

Group A consists of Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B includes South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland.

Additionally, 10 warm-up matches are scheduled from September 28 to October 1.
