Following backlash and public criticism, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made changes to a video. The video now features Imran Khan, the captain who led the team to victory in the 1992 World Cup, but it appears that former captain Wasim Akram, who had previously voiced his discontent with the omission, has been removed.
The updated video can be found on the PCB’s official ‘X’ platform, as social media users had expressed their dissatisfaction with the cricket board and called for the separation of cricket from politics.
The PCB has launched a promotional campaign leading up to the CWC 2023. One of the videos was uploaded on 14th August 2023. Due to its length, the video was abridged and some important clips were missing. This has been rectified in the complete version of the video ⤵️ pic.twitter.com/Rz2OBDyI9i

However, another omission has been noticed. Wasim Akram, who was recognized as the man of the match in the 1992 World Cup final, is not included.
After long flights and hours of transit before reaching Sri Lanka, I got the shock of my life when I watched PCB’s short clip on the history of Pakistan cricket minus the great Imran Khan… political differences apart but Imran Khan is an icon of world cricket and developed…

While it’s not feasible to include every cricketer who has represented Pakistan on the international stage, Wasim Akram was outspoken in his criticism of the cricket board for excluding Imran Khan from a previous video that celebrated the history of Pakistan cricket.
Wasim Akram holds impressive records, including the highest number of Test wickets (414) and the most instances of taking five wickets in an innings (25) for Pakistan.
The Sultan of Swing expressed astonishment at the absence of Imran Khan in the PCB’s video recounting the history of Pakistan cricket. He shared his thoughts on ‘X’, suggesting that the PCB should delete the video and issue an apology for leaving out Imran Khan.
Wasim Akram emphasized that despite any political differences, Imran Khan remains an iconic figure in international cricket. He also acknowledged that Imran Khan paved the way for Pakistan’s success in the cricket world.
