Pakistan’s Test captain, Shan Masood, had a heated exchange with a reporter following the team’s 120-run defeat to the West Indies in the second Test in Multan, which leveled the series 1-1.
The West Indies dominated with Jomel Warrican’s stellar performance, taking nine wickets in the match and 19 in the series, challenging Pakistan on the turning pitches.
During the press conference, a journalist questioned Masood about his authority in decision-making, asking if he made decisions on his own or if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) influenced him. Masood initially dismissed the question but later responded, emphasizing his focus on the team’s present and future, not past events.

He challenged the journalist’s assumptions, saying, “If you want to discuss facts, I’m happy to engage, but your information is incorrect.” Masood called for mutual respect, highlighting the importance of professionalism in the press.
He confirmed that while the PCB makes decisions, all choices, including his own, are respected. Masood defended his commitment to the team, stating, “We play for our country and institution, and we’re dedicated to bringing results.”
The captain expressed dissatisfaction with the tone of the question, calling it insulting, and advised the journalist to conduct research before asking questions.
He concluded by reminding everyone of the team’s strong record, having won three out of four matches, showcasing their hard work and dedication.
