Zimbabwe Beats World Champions India With a 13-run Triumph In Harare

Zimbabwe delivered a remarkable bowling performance to shock World Champions India, claiming a 13-run victory in Harare on Saturday, July 6. Sikandar Raza and his bowlers defended a modest total of 115 runs as India faltered, getting all out for just 102 runs in 19.5 overs, marking India’s first T20I defeat of the year.

Raza and Tendai Chatara took three wickets each, while Clive Madande’s late heroics sealed the win. India struggled due to ineffective bowling in the death overs and reckless batting.

India won the toss and chose to field first. Mukesh Kumar struck early, dismissing Innocent Kaia for a duck in the second over. Wesley Madhevere and Brian Bennett steadied Zimbabwe with a partnership. Ravi Bishnoi then turned the game around for India, dismissing both Bennett and Madhevere in quick succession.

Despite a solid recovery by captain Sikandar Raza and Dion Myers, taking Zimbabwe to 74 for 3, Avesh Khan’s dismissal of Raza triggered a collapse. Bishnoi and Washington Sundar orchestrated the downfall, reducing Zimbabwe to 90 for 9. It seemed India would restrict them to under 100 runs.
