IHC Faces Challenge to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s Appointment

Babar Azam Sets Unwanted Record in PSL

The appointment of Mohsin Naqvi as the Chairman of the Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court, leading to a hearing where Chief Justice Amir Farooq reserved the decision on the petition.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Amir Farooq inquired about the grounds on which the petitioner considered the appointment as inappropriate. The petitioner argued that according to the Constitution, there is a distinction between the elected and caretaker prime ministers, and the authority to appoint the Chairman PCB as the Patron-in-Chief rests with the Prime Minister.

The Chief Justice sought clarification, questioning the petitioner if they were asserting that the caretaker prime minister did not possess the authority to be the Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The petitioner argued in favor of their stance.

However, Chief Justice Amir Farooq became displeased with the petitioner for speaking while the order was being written. He sternly remarked, “You are speaking while writing the order, so I am not writing it. Wait for my order.” The court has reserved its decision, and the outcome will be known once the Chief Justice delivers the final decision on the matter.
