Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq was forced to retire hurt after a frightening incident during the third ODI against New Zealand on Saturday. The left-handed batter was struck in the face by a deflected throw while attempting a quick single in the third over of the innings.
The ball hit Imam after bouncing off his helmet, causing him to collapse in pain. Medical staff rushed to the field, and he was taken off in an ambulance for urgent evaluation. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later confirmed that Imam had failed a concussion test and would take no further part in the match.

Usman Khan replaced Imam at the crease, while Pakistan stood at 55 without loss during the chase of New Zealand’s 265-run target. The incident cast a shadow over what was set to be an intense final game of the series.
Imam is currently receiving treatment at the stadium’s emergency medical centre, with the PCB expected to issue a detailed medical update soon. His availability for upcoming fixtures remains uncertain.
