Is Mohammad Amir Obtaining British Nationality in Order to Play in the IPL?

Mohammad Amir, a former Pakistani bowler, has replied to recent media rumours about gaining a British passport and playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In an interview with the media, the left-arm bowler stated that he has no plans to represent England in the future because he has already represented Pakistan.

In answer to a question regarding playing in the IPL, Amir indicated that there is another year until the next edition of the tournament, and he will evaluate the situation then.

“What will be the scenario then?” I always take things slowly. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, therefore I’m not planning on playing in the IPL in 2024,” Amir stated.

However, the 31-year-old cricketer underlined that if he receives a British passport, he will undoubtedly give his all and seize greater opportunities when they occur

It is worth noting that Mohammad Amir has been chosen by the Durban Qalandars to compete in the inaugural Zim Afro T10 tournament.

Earlier this year, it was claimed that a PCB Selection Committee official had approached Amir, asking the former fast bowler to prepare for a return to the national squad.

The PCB then emphasised that no official had approached the left-arm pacer about a possible return to international cricket, adding that the reports were “factually incorrect.”
