Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans Strike Major Deal

The Karachi Kings, champions of the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), have engaged in a significant trade with Multan Sultans ahead of the upcoming draft on December 13. As part of the trade, Pakistan’s current Test captain, Shan Masood, will be joining the Karachi Kings, while the Kings bid farewell to left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram, along with their first pick in the diamond round and first pick in the silver round.

Shan Masood had initially joined Multan Sultans during the 2018 season and made his PSL debut in 2019 against the Karachi Kings. His leadership played a crucial role in Sultans’ topping the league stage in the 2020 season and qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Masood has accumulated 1,318 runs in 42 matches, contributing significantly to Sultans’ title win in 2021.

Expressing gratitude, Sultans Chief Executive Ali Khan Tareen thanked Shan Masood, acknowledging his role as the longest-serving member of the Sultans family, captain, and integral part of their success. Tareen wished him the best in his new team.

In a prior trade, the Karachi Kings had exchanged their last edition’s skipper, Imad Wasim, with Islamabad United in exchange for Hasan Ali. The draft for PSL season nine is scheduled to take place at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on December 13, with the tournament tentatively scheduled from February 8 to March 24, 2024. Reports suggest that the UAE and South Africa are potential hosts for the initial matches due to elections in Pakistan, although franchises are advocating for the entire event to be held in Pakistan.Top of Form
