Mohammad Rizwan dedicates century to Palestinians

Mohammad Rizwan, the standout batsman for Pakistan, dedicated his century to the besieged Palestinians in Gaza who are suffering as a result of indiscriminate Israeli strikes. His 131 score helped the national side record the highest-ever run chase in an ICC World Cup versus Sri Lanka.

In India’s Hyderabad, Pakistan overcame Sri Lanka by six wickets on Tuesday by chasing down a record-breaking 345 in 48.2 overs.

With the help of Abdullah Shafique (113), who opened the scoring, and Rizwan’s 131 unbeaten runs, the team was able to chase down the intimidating 345-run mark with 10 balls remaining.

“This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute in the win,” Rizwan wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The star batter credited the whole team for the victory “and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier”.

Rizwan also expressed gratitude to the Indian fans saying, “Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout.”
