Pak Army Shines at National Weightlifting Championship, Sets Three National Records

The 66th Men’s and 6th Women’s National Weightlifting Championship 2024 took place from October 7-12 at Railway Stadium in Lahore, where Pak Army’s weightlifters showcased their dominance.

Competing against various provincial and departmental teams across ten categories, the Pak Army teams secured eight gold medals and set three national records.

Defending champions Pakistan WAPDA, who had high hopes going into the competition, were ultimately dethroned after a fierce contest that continued until the last moments. Although WAPDA managed to break two national records, they finished second overall.

The Pak Army’s men and women teams topped the standings with scores of 98 and 112 points, respectively, while WAPDA’s men and women teams garnered 89 and 102 points, placing them as runners-up.

In total, Pak Army achieved eight gold, seven silver, and three bronze medals, marking their first championship victory. The event, conducted under the traditional points-based format, highlighted the competitive spirit of both teams.
