PSL 9 Draft Attracts 250+ International Players

Preparations for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 are in full swing as reports confirm the registration of 254 foreign players for the upcoming draft scheduled on December 13.

The diverse pool of players hails from various cricketing nations, although notably absent are any Australian players in this edition of Pakistan’s premier domestic cricketing event.

Of the total registrants, twenty players fall under the prestigious platinum category, with a notable presence of talent from England.

Star players like Alex Hales, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, David Wiese, Sikandar Raza, Colin Munro, James Vince, Rassie Van der Dussen, and Hazratullah Zazai have already confirmed their participation in the PSL 9 draft.

The highly anticipated draft event is set to occur at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on December 13, 2023. Tentatively, the flagship tournament is scheduled to span from February 8 to March 24, 2024.

The pick order for the Player Draft was recently finalized, marking Quetta Gladiators with the first pick. The selection order for the Platinum category’s first round was determined by the inverse order of the previous season’s standings.

The process of renewing local player categories for the upcoming tournament’s ninth edition concluded on November 10, upgrading categories for nine players. The registration window for foreign players opened on October 25, witnessing interest from several top global players.

The ongoing trade and retention window saw Karachi Kings trading Imad Wasim to Islamabad United in exchange for Hasan Ali, accompanied by Islamabad United’s first round silver pick offered for Karachi Kings’ second silver pick.

The excitement builds as PSL 9 gears up for a potential lineup of cricketing talent, promising an electrifying season for fans and enthusiasts alike.
