Real Madrid Stage Late Comeback to Beat Mallorca and Delay Barca’s Title Party

Real Madrid secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Mallorca on Wednesday, thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Jacobo Ramon, postponing Barcelona’s potential LaLiga title celebration. With the match tied 1-1 deep into injury time—enough for Barca to clinch the title due to their superior head-to-head record—Ramon, making his first league start, capitalized on a defensive lapse by Mallorca and fired home a decisive volley.

Madrid, now four points behind Barcelona with two games left, are holding on to slim title hopes. However, Barcelona can seal their 28th LaLiga title with a win against Espanyol on Thursday.

Mallorca had taken an early lead in the 11th minute through Martin Valjent’s angled strike in what was largely a lackluster encounter at a half-filled Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid, missing 12 players due to injury, equalized in the 68th minute with a brilliant solo goal by Kylian Mbappe.

Despite dominating possession with 72%, taking 39 shots, and forcing 26 corners, Madrid struggled to break down a resilient Mallorca side, mainly due to an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Leo Roman, who made 11 crucial saves. In the end, it was Ramon who emerged as the unlikely hero, saying he had dreamed of such a moment his whole life and was proud to score his first goal in such dramatic fashion.
