Supreme Court urged to address petrol price surge via suo motu

An application was lodged with the Supreme Court’s Human Rights Cell, urging the initiation of a suo motu inquiry into the recent escalation in petroleum product prices. The application was filed by local advocate Mudassar Chaudhry.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance announced a Rs17.50 per liter rise in petrol prices, setting it at Rs290.45. High-speed diesel also witnessed an increase of Rs20 per liter, reaching Rs293.40. In contrast, prices for light speed diesel and kerosene oil remain unchanged.
