Taylor Swift Opens Up About 'Psychological' Torture by Kanye West

In an interview with Time magazine after being named Person of the Year, Taylor Swift opened up about the psychological toll she experienced following Kanye West’s controversial comments a few years ago. She referred to the issue as a “career death” that resulted in significant backlash. The incident in question revolves around a song released by West in 2016, where he made vulgar references to Swift.

At that time, West accused Swift of being his creation and even shared a recorded phone call suggesting he had received her permission to release the track. The song alleged that Swift achieved fame through a shortcut provided by West. However, when Swift proved the permission was false, West released an illegally recorded phone call, creating further controversy.

Swift described the impact of the situation on her mental health, stating, “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.” She revealed that she moved to a foreign country, stayed indoors for a year, and became afraid to take phone calls. The experience led her to push away people in her life, as she struggled with trust issues, saying, “I went down really, really hard.”

Reflecting on the backlash, Swift expressed concern that the negative moment would define her for the rest of her life. The interview sheds light on the personal challenges Swift faced in the aftermath of public controversies.
