Additional Remakes of Resident Evil are on the Horizon

Capcom’s Resident Evil series has consistently been a success, and the remakes have proven highly popular for the Japanese game maker. Both the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes rank among the top 10 best-selling Capcom games, with the Resident Evil 4 remake even receiving nominations for Game of the Year awards. Building on this success, Capcom has officially confirmed that more Resident Evil remakes are in the works.

Yasuhiro Anpo, the director of the Resident Evil 4 remake, announced this development during a recent PlayStation event. He expressed his satisfaction with the positive reception of the three remakes released so far, highlighting the opportunity they provide for a modern audience to experience these classic games. Anpo, as a fan of the older games, conveyed the team’s enthusiasm to continue the remake series.

However, he didn’t disclose which game would be remade next, promising that the announcement would come “in the future,” without specifying a timeline.

While fans have speculated about potential choices for the next remake, such as Resident Evil: Code Veronica or the original Resident Evil, Anpo’s statement leaves the future remake uncertain. The possibilities extend to titles like Resident Evil 0, 5, and 6, but their potential remakes might require more substantial transformations by Capcom to truly stand out, considering the success achieved with the RE2-style overhaul.
