Apple Watches Suffer from Ghost Touch Issues

The latest generation of Apple Watches, including the Apple Watch 9 and the Watch Ultra 2, are reportedly experiencing ghost touch issues. Ghost touch refers to a display bug where touches and swipes are registered on the screen even when it’s not being touched.

Apple has acknowledged the issue and is actively investigating it, as confirmed by an internal company memo reviewed by MacRumors. This memo was circulated to Apple Authorized Service Providers, indicating that the problem may be widespread.

While there aren’t numerous reports of ghost touch issues online, it’s important to note that not all users experiencing the problem may report it publicly. The memo specifically mentions the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 as being affected, suggesting that older versions may not be experiencing the same issue.

Ghost touches can disrupt normal usage of the Apple Watch, potentially initiating phone calls or interfering with entering passcodes. At present, the cause of the issue is unclear, as is the timeline for Apple to implement a solution, whether through a software update or otherwise.

There is currently no known temporary fix for the issue, but some users have reported that force restarting the device or ensuring it is up to date has helped in certain cases. Users experiencing ghost touch problems with their Apple Watches are advised to stay informed about any updates or solutions provided by Apple.
