Elon Musk Says Tesla Will Deploy Humanoid Robots By Next Year

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has announced that the company will begin producing and using humanoid robots starting next year. In a recent social media update, Musk revealed that these robots will initially be used within Tesla, with plans to start selling them to other companies by 2026.

The robot, named Optimus, was originally expected to be operational in Tesla factories by the end of this year. However, other companies like Honda and Boston Dynamics are also advancing their own humanoid robot technologies.

Musk stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Tesla aims to have low production of these robots for internal use in 2024, with hopes for higher production levels for external customers by 2026.

This announcement came just before Tesla was set to release its latest financial results, and the company’s shares saw a significant increase of over 5% on Wall Street.

Elon Musk has previously set ambitious deadlines for his projects, such as promising self-driving taxis by the following year in 2019.

Earlier this year, he mentioned that the unveiling of the robotaxi would occur on August 8, but this has now been postponed, with a new date not yet provided. Musk has indicated that the additional time will be used to showcase other features.
