Germany’s Federal Court of Justice has ruled that Facebook users whose data was misused between 2018 and 2019 can claim compensation without proving financial losses.
This follows a 2021 breach that exposed user data through Facebook’s friend search feature. Claims dismissed earlier by a Cologne court will now be re-evaluated.

The court suggested a compensation amount of around €100 for affected users, while Meta denies responsibility, citing no data breach in the incident.
