Last of Us Part II Remastered Heads to PlayStation 5 in January 2024

Games released in 2020 are now undergoing remastering, as confirmed by Sony in a blog post on the PlayStation website last Friday. Sony has officially announced that a remastered version of The Last of Us Part II is set to be released in January 2024.

The initial information surfaced through a leaked trailer and was subsequently verified by Sony. The upgraded edition of the popular post-apocalyptic zombie survival game is slated for release on January 19, 2024. This enhanced version will showcase improved loading times, 4K graphics in the console’s Fidelity mode, and seamless integration with the latest DualSense wireless controller for the PS5.

Insider Gaming and various sources on X were the first to report on the remastered release.

In addition to enhancing the overall gaming experience, the update will introduce a new rogue-like survival mode named “No Return.” In this mode, players can navigate through a series of randomized encounters, taking on the roles of unlockable characters not previously featured in the franchise. Players will also have the chance to participate in global leaderboard competitions.

Furthermore, the remastered edition will incorporate early versions of three previously unreleased levels that were not part of the original game. Additionally, the game’s cutscenes will include recorded commentary from director Neil Druckmann, narrative lead Halley Gross, and actors Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and Laura Bailey.

Leaked trailers from Sony before an official announcement are not unfamiliar for The Last of Us series, with a similar incident occurring last year with the remake of The Last of Us Part I.
