Google Enhances Search to Tackle Deepfake Content

Google has updated its search algorithm to address AI deepfakes and improve the removal process for unwanted content. Victims of explicit deepfakes can now request the removal of such images more easily, and Google will block similar images from search results once they are identified, reducing the need for repeated reports.

The company acknowledges that the issue of deepfakes is worsening due to the accessibility of new AI tools. To address this, Google will penalize websites that frequently host harmful deepfakes by lowering their search rankings. This approach has previously been effective against other harmful content.
