Russia and China to Build Joint Lunar Research Station

Russia and China plan a joint Moon station in three phases, as detailed in an agreement The International Scientific Lunar Station (ISLS) will be developed through research, construction, and operational stages.

The second phase involves setting up a control center, transporting cargo, and ensuring a precise soft landing on the Moon, along with beginning collaborative operations.

The third phase focuses on lunar exploration, technology testing, and supporting international partners in lunar landings.

Five joint missions are planned to deploy modules on the Moon’s surface and in orbit, with international partners invited to contribute. The agreement is valid for 20 years and automatically extends in five-year increments unless terminated by either party.
