TikTok announced on Thursday that it will prohibit content that promotes Osama bin Laden’s 2002 letter, which justifies attacks against Americans. The letter, written after the 9/11 attacks, criticized U.S. support for Israel, accused Americans of financing Palestinian “oppression,” and contained antisemitic comments.

TikTok clarified that content promoting this letter violates their rules against supporting terrorism. While there were reports of it trending, a search for “Letter to America” on TikTok yielded no results, with a notice stating that the phrase may be associated with content violating guidelines.
Some U.S. lawmakers had previously criticized TikTok, and the White House denounced spreading “repugnant, evil, and antisemitic lies.” TikTok reiterated its commitment to removing content that violates policies against misinformation and violence promotion.
