WhatsApp has released a major update to its beta version for Android, introducing new features aimed at enhancing the user experience for status creation. The latest update, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.3.22, brings several accessibility improvements, making it easier to create and share status updates beyond just photos and videos.
The most significant addition in this update is the introduction of two new shortcuts within the gallery sheet. When users tap the floating action button in the ‘Updates’ tab, they will now see options to quickly create text-based status updates or share voice messages as status updates. This feature is designed to offer users a wider range of ways to express themselves.

WhatsApp has also added a dedicated shortcut for recording voice messages directly within the status creation screen. Previously, this feature was bundled with the text-based status option, making it less noticeable to users. By separating the two, WhatsApp hopes to make voice status updates more accessible and encourage users to try out this feature.
These updates are expected to help users who may not have been aware that voice messages could be shared as status updates, offering new ways to communicate with their contacts. The goal is to make it easier for users to experiment with different types of content in their status updates, enhancing their overall experience with the app.
Currently, the new features are available to a limited group of beta testers, but WhatsApp plans to expand the rollout to more users in the coming weeks. This update is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to improve usability and provide diverse, user-friendly features.
