The government of Pakistan has announced a significant reduction in the prices of petroleum products, bringing much-needed relief to millions of Pakistanis. According to a newly issued notification, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 4.74 per liter, and the price of high-speed diesel has been decreased by Rs 3.86 per liter. As a result, the new price of petrol is set at Rs 268.36 per liter, and high-speed diesel will now cost Rs 270.22 per liter. These new prices will be effective for the next fortnight, starting June.

This move is intended to provide some respite to the public from the previously higher fuel prices. The Ministry of Finance, despite a delay in issuing the notification, has proceeded with the recommendation to reduce the prices, contrary to the directives initially issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
