The tragic case of 10-year-old housemaid Fatima Fariro has ignited a demand for justice among netizens. Allegedly subjected to fatal torture by her employer, local spiritual leader Asad Shah Jilani, in Ranipur Town near Khairpur City, the incident came to light through a viral social media video that displayed disturbing signs of abuse on the young girl’s body.
Despite clear evidence of torture, Fatima’s parents initially labeled her death as ‘natural,’ causing suspicion to rise. However, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur Mir Ruhail Khoso confirmed the arrest of the prime suspect, Asad Shah Jilani, in connection with the alleged murder of the minor girl. Jilani, on the other hand, maintains that Fatima was suffering from gastroenteritis and received proper medical care, denying any violent actions against her and asserting a familial bond.

Dr. Abdul Fatah Memon, a doctor who treated Fatima, corroborated her illness, leading to a divergence in perspectives between medical reports and the ongoing investigation. In response, SSP Khairpur announced that legal measures would be taken after a thorough inquiry. As the case progresses, plans for exhumation and post-mortem examinations are underway, while DIG Sukkur Javed Jiskani has established a three-member committee to further investigate the matter, comprised of SSP Khairpur, ASP Gumbat, and DSP CTD.
