ChatGPT is currently one of the most popular applications on the internet. Its extraordinary intelligence has garnered a vast user base of millions of people worldwide.

Regrettably, recent events have prompted concerns, since hundreds of thousands of ChatGPT accounts have been compromised, with India and Pakistan bearing the brunt of the damage.

According to a new analysis by Group-IB, a major cybersecurity organisation headquartered in Singapore, more than 100,000 OpenAI ChatGPT credentials appeared on underground web marketplaces between June 2022 and May 2023.

The research by Group-IB revealed about 101,134 compromised devices with stolen ChatGPT credentials.

According to the research, the Asia Pacific area had the highest number of ChatGPT accounts compromised by information thieves, accounting for 40.5% of all occurrences recorded between June 2022 and May 2023.

With 24,925 incidences, the Middle East and Africa came in second, followed by Europe with 16,951 incidents.

In terms of specific nations affected, India had the most compromised ChatGPT credentials (12,632). Pakistan came in second with 9,217 compromised accounts, while Brazil had 6,531 incidents. With 2,463 hacked accounts, Bangladesh has the fewest reported incidents.
