Corrupt Lahore Development Authority Officers under arrest

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has been targeted for corruption by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). ACE has arrested four LDA officers in recent weeks for taking bribes in exchange for unlawfully granting completion certificates.

Director Salman Mehfooz, Deputy Director Tayyab Ali, Assistant Director Inayatullah, and Clerk Ijaz Sattar are among those accused. It is claimed that they were paid Rs. 3 million to approve a scheme, resulting in an estimated Rs. 86 million loss to the exchequer.

The allocation of 27 plots in Johar Town, Lahore, valued Rs. 1.4 billion, has been suspended by ACE. These plots were gained fraudulently through the use of false documents. ACE is currently looking into Shahid Munir, who is accused of orchestrating the acquisition of these properties using fraudulent documentation.

The activities of the institution against corruption in the LDA are a positive development. These arrests send a strong message that ACE is serious about combating corruption.
