On New Year’s Eve, Karachi witnessed chaotic scenes in several areas, resulting in multiple injuries. In a disturbing incident in the Garden area, Asher Mehesar, the son of DIG Rapid Response Force Azfar Mehesar, allegedly ran over a woman with his car while being intoxicated.
The Karachi police confirmed that Asher Mehesar was under the influence at the time of the accident. He was driving a vehicle with police number plates and was accompanied by two officers from the Rapid Response Force.

The woman, severely injured, was rushed to Civil Hospital for treatment. Following the accident, a crowd gathered around the vehicle, prompting government gunmen to fire warning shots into the air to disperse them.
Asher Mehesar, along with his nephew Mubashir Raza and the two officers, was arrested and transferred to the Garden Police Station for legal proceedings. The incident raised concerns about the behavior of law enforcement officers’ relatives and the misuse of official vehicles, especially during festive events.
This is not the first troubling incident involving Asher Mehesar; he had previously been seen engaging in aerial firing from a vehicle in March 2024. His father later dismissed the footage, claiming they were doctored and part of a campaign to tarnish his reputation.
