Twitter for Elon Musk loses its second trust and safety chief

According to rumors, Twitter’s second director of trust and safety under owner Elon Musk has left the company. A month after Elon Musk seized control of the business in November 2022, Ella Irwin replaced departing leader Yoel Roth.

Content moderation, a subject that has received more attention since Mr. Musk’s takeover, is the responsibility of the head of trust and safety. Twitter and Ms. Irwin have been contacted by the BBC for comment.

She gave Reuters and the Wall Street Journal her official resignation statement. She resigned, although it’s not obvious why. But it comes a day after Mr. Musk questioned a Twitter content filtering choice in public. He referred to it as “a mistake by many people at Twitter” that the exposure of a video had been restricted due to claims of gender appropriation.

Whether you support using someone’s chosen pronouns or not, failing to do so is at the very least impolite and unquestionably legal, he said. It occurs a week after the social media platform withdrew from the voluntary code of conduct established by the European Union to combat misinformation. The former head of advertising at NBCUniversal, Linda Yaccarino, was named the new CEO of Twitter by Mr. Musk last month. She hasn’t yet begun performing her job.
