Amjad Aref Jaas, aged 48, succumbed to critical abdominal injuries caused by live fire from Israeli troops during a raid in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, stated the ministry.

Jaas’ death brings the total number of Palestinians killed in Monday’s Israeli raid to six, with over 90 Palestinians wounded, as reported by health officials.

During the raid, eight Israeli security personnel were also wounded in Jenin, according to the military. After the confrontation ended, the Palestinian health ministry announced the killing of Zakaria Mohammed al-Zaoul, a 20-year-old, near the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

Al-Zaoul was reported to have been “martyred by live Israeli bullets to the head” in the town of Husan, as stated by the ministry on Monday.

The Israeli military stated that their troops were engaged in “routine activity” in the city, south of Jerusalem, when a suspect allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at them. The soldiers responded with live fire, resulting in a confirmed hit, the military added.

Islamic Jihad, a militant group, claimed Zaoul as one of its members in a statement.

According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, the military employed live fire, tear gas, and stun grenades during the raids.

These incidents mark the latest surge of violence connected to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which has claimed the lives of at least 166 Palestinians, 21 Israelis, one Ukrainian, and one Italian this year, according to official sources. The figures include both combatants and civilians, with three members of the Arab minority on the Israeli side.

Israel has maintained control over the West Bank since 1967, and its armed forces regularly conduct patrols and raids in Palestinian towns and cities.
