US Congressman Tim Walberg Sparks Controversy by Suggesting Nuclear Bombing of Gaza

The remarks made by US Republican Congressman Tim Walberg, suggesting dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza “like Nagasaki and Hiroshima,” have sparked widespread condemnation and anger. While his office insisted that the statement was “metaphorical,” it has drawn sharp criticism from many quarters.

The Gaza health ministry has reported a staggering toll of casualties from Israel’s military offensive on Gaza, with at least 32,782 Palestinians killed and 75,298 injured since October 7. The majority of those killed are reported to be women and children, and there are also reports of indiscriminate targeting of journalists by the Israeli military.
