Utility Store Accused of Selling Expired Ghee

An outlet of the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) in Shikarpur, Sindh, is facing allegations of selling expired and substandard ghee, sparking controversy and legal action.

Ali Baig initiated legal proceedings by filing a petition in the Sessions Court, asserting that the Shikarpur outlet had been distributing ghee products that had exceeded their expiration dates and did not meet quality standards.

Baig cited a report from the Pakistan Accounts Committee that provided compelling evidence to support these claims.

The petitioner expressed grave concerns over the potential health risks associated with consuming such substandard goods, emphasizing the possibility of an increased prevalence of heart diseases among consumers.

In response to these accusations, the sessions court has scheduled a hearing for September 9th. Additionally, the court has called for a comprehensive report from the Deputy Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and determine whether any regulatory violations have occurred.
