Weather update for Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Punjab, has announced that the current cycle of rainfall will continue in Punjab until August 7, along with ongoing flood conditions in the rivers. The upper areas of all major rivers in the province are expected to experience light to heavy rainfall.

At the Sulemanki barrage location on the River Ravi, there is low-level flooding due to an inflow of 52,040 cusecs and an outflow of 36,840 cusecs. On the River Sutlej, there are high-level floods at the Sulemanki and Head Islam barrages with an inflow of 76,035 cusecs and an outflow of 62,877 cusecs.

The PDMA has issued an alert to the relevant authorities about the risk of high-level flooding at the Mangla barrage location on the Jhelum River.

To ensure safety during the flood and rainy season, citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures such as staying away from mud walls, rooftops, and electric poles. Additionally, unnecessary travel around the rivers should be avoided. Local authorities have been instructed to enforce Section 144 around the rivers to maintain safety.
