Why has Novak Djokovic been visiting this tree for the past 15 years?

World tennis number one, Novak Djokovic, recently shared insights into his longstanding connection with a tree located in Melbourne’s botanical gardens, a bond that has endured for 15 years. Following his victory over Australia’s Alexei Popyrin at the Rod Laver Arena, Djokovic disclosed that he often visits this specific tree during the Australian Open to aid in meditation and grounding.

In his post-match interview, the 36-year-old athlete explained, “There’s one particular tree that I’ve been having [a] special relationship with, so to say, in the last 15 years.” He expressed admiration for the tree’s roots, trunks, and branches, noting that he started climbing it years ago, forming a unique connection. Djokovic added, “I just have a connection,” as reported by Sky News.

While professing his love for every corner of the botanical gardens, Djokovic refrained from disclosing the exact identity of the tree, stating, “I cannot reveal which one, I’ll try to keep it discreet for myself when I’m there to have my own time.” He acknowledged the botanical gardens as an incredible treasure for Melbourne, providing a serene natural escape within the heart of the city.

Interestingly, Djokovic had previously shared pictures on social media in 2018, featuring him around various trees, including one where he was barefoot, standing in a tree in London. These glimpses into his connection with nature showcase a unique aspect of the tennis star’s personal life.
