In line with WhatsApp and Twitter, Instagram appears to be considering the implementation of a feature that allows users to disable the “seen” status for direct messages.
A prominent leaker, Alessandro Paluzzi, has brought attention to this potential addition. According to his findings, the option to “Disable seen status” will be accessible within Instagram’s settings, specifically in the privacy and safety section. It is expected to be located just beneath the Vanish mode option.

It’s noteworthy that Instagram has taken a considerable amount of time to introduce this feature, as direct messaging is not the primary focus of the platform. Unlike dedicated messaging apps, Instagram’s main function revolves around visual sharing.

Nonetheless, the introduction of this feature could be significant for users who value their privacy. The capability to prevent others from seeing when a direct message has been viewed has gained immense popularity on platforms such as WhatsApp.
If Instagram indeed integrates this feature, it could provide users with greater control over their messaging interactions and contribute to enhancing the platform’s overall user experience.
