The blast, caused by a malfunction in the hydraulic system, occurred on Tuesday and was reportedly heard up to five kilometers away. Local residents even felt tremors from the explosion. Indian media reported that the factory, which is part of the Department of Defence Production, is a major ammunition producer.

M.N. Haldar, Chief General Manager of Ordnance Factory Khamaria, stated that the explosion occurred while a Pechora missile was being worked on, injuring four people in the building. All injured have been taken to Mahakaushal Hospital for treatment.

Although initial reports mentioned two possible fatalities, factory officials have not confirmed any deaths. Rescue operations are ongoing, with security forces sealing off the area, and an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the cause of the blast.
