Boxing Legend George Foreman Passes Away at 76

George Foreman, the two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medallist, has died at the age of 76. The boxing icon, known for his ferocious power in the ring and his larger-than-life persona, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by family.

Foreman, one of the most dominant heavyweights in boxing history, claimed the world title in 1973 with a memorable knockout victory over Joe Frazier. However, his career-defining moment came a year later in the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” against Muhammad Ali, where he experienced his first professional defeat in a bout that became part of boxing folklore.

Born in Houston, Texas, in 1949, Foreman discovered boxing after joining the Job Corps as a teenager. His meteoric rise led him to win a gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, propelling him into the professional ranks. After retiring in 1977, Foreman made an astonishing comeback a decade later, and in 1994, at the age of 45, he became the oldest heavyweight champion in history by defeating Michael Moorer.

Outside the ring, Foreman enjoyed immense success as a businessman and television personality, famously endorsing the George Foreman Grill, a product that sold over 100 million units worldwide. His affable charm made him a household name well beyond boxing.

Foreman is survived by his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, and 11 children. He leaves behind a lasting legacy in both the sporting and business worlds, remembered as a boxing legend and a beloved personality.
