India Reports No Signal from Lander and Rover After Lunar Sunrise

India’s space agency, ISRO, has reported that it has been unable to receive signals from its lunar lander and rover after their two-week lunar night.

The lander and rover were put into sleep mode during this period. Despite efforts to establish contact, ISRO has not been successful and will continue its attempts.

India achieved a historic soft landing on the lunar south pole last month, making it the first country to do so. The Pragyan rover was deployed and began exploring the landing site, while the Vikram lander exceeded its mission objectives. However, the lack of signal reception may be due to the extreme cold weather conditions during the lunar night, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 150°C (minus 238°F). Efforts to reestablish contact will continue.
