An Indian Air Force wing commander has been charged with rape by the Jammu and Kashmir Police following allegations made by a female officer stationed at the same Air Force base in Srinagar.
The complaint, which has resulted in an FIR under Section 376(2) of the Indian Penal Code at Budgam police station, accuses the wing commander of continuous harassment, sexual assault, and mental torture over the past two years.

The woman alleges that the assault occurred on New Year’s Eve at the Officers’ Mess, where the wing commander allegedly invited her to his room under the guise of giving her a New Year gift and then forced her into a sexual act.
She described enduring significant mental distress and felt ashamed and devastated, struggling with whether to report the incident.
Despite an internal investigation initiated by a colonel, the woman claims that the process was flawed and biased, with delays and failure to call key witnesses.
Disappointed by the internal handling, she sought legal action from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, alleging ongoing harassment and lack of serious response from the IAF.
