Indian Soldier Takes his Own Life in Odisha

An Indian army soldier was found dead, having hanged himself from a ceiling fan in Odisha, as reported on Monday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the soldier was part of Battalion 64 of the Central Reserve Police Force, which is actively involved in operations against Naxal insurgents.

The soldier, identified as Arjun Charn Naik, did not leave behind a suicide note. A post-mortem confirmed that asphyxiation was the cause of death, verifying it as a suicide, though the reasons for his actions remain unknown.

The police have launched an investigation, though no definitive findings have been released. Following the post-mortem, the soldier’s body was returned to his native village. Suicides among military personnel are often attributed to low morale, harsh treatment, and mental stress.
