Japan Gifts Two Bullet Trains Worth PKR 1,972 Crores to India

In a significant gesture of cooperation, Japan has donated two Shinkansen bullet trains—the E5 and E3 series—valued at approximately PKR 1,972 crores to India. These state-of-the-art trains are set to support the testing and inspection of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, a pivotal project for India’s rail modernization.

The trains, expected to arrive by early 2026, will play a crucial role in collecting operational data specific to India’s unique conditions. This data will help fine-tune the high-speed rail system, ensuring its efficiency and safety in the Indian landscape.
