Last Solar Eclipse of 2023 Graces the Skies Today

The world is about to witness its third and final solar eclipse of 2023, scheduled for October 14 and 15. This eclipse will be an “annular solar eclipse,” where the moon passes between Earth and the sun, but not entirely obscuring the sun’s face, as in a total solar eclipse. Eclipses are not common occurrences, as the moon’s orbit is not in the exact same plane as Earth and the sun.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has confirmed the eclipse, which will start at night and continue into the early hours of October 15, according to Pakistan Standard Time (PST). However, this eclipse will not be visible in Pakistan.

In the United States, the eclipse will begin at 9:13 am Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) and traverse several states, including Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. The eclipse will also be visible in parts of Mexico, Central American countries like Belize, Honduras, and Panama, as well as central Colombia and northern Brazil. The eclipse will conclude over the Atlantic Ocean, near Natal, Brazil.

The next total solar eclipse after this one is expected on April 8, 2024, and it will be known as “The Great North American Eclipse.” This eclipse will be visible across North and Central America.
