Pakistan Hopeful for Saudi Crown Prince's Visit

Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani stated on Saturday that Pakistan holds optimism regarding a potential visit by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman.

However, he emphasized that no specific dates for this visit have been confirmed at present.

Jilani highlighted the significant importance of the Saudi Crown Prince’s visit, particularly due to the keen interest expressed by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations in investing in Pakistan following the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). He mentioned that approximately 12 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) have been finalized and are ready for signing when the high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia makes the visit.

While he did not provide detailed information about these agreements and MoUs, Jilani indicated that Saudi Arabia and GCC countries are keen on investing in various sectors, including agriculture, information technology, mining, minerals, and energy.

The minister explained that the primary goal of establishing the SIFC was to expedite the process of attracting foreign investment to Pakistan.

In a recent meeting with business leaders, Army Chief General Asim Munir reportedly discussed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to invest $25 billion in Pakistan through the SIFC. Additionally, it was mentioned that the Army Chief proposed allocating $10 billion to address Pakistan’s foreign exchange challenges.

Currently, the Crown Prince is leading Saudi Arabia’s delegation at the two-day G20 Leaders Summit in New Delhi, India.
