Pakistan has dispatched its first shipment of humanitarian aid to Lebanon in response to the ongoing conflict in the region. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered the provision of assistance for the war victims on humanitarian grounds. A chartered aircraft carried three tonnes of medicines and essential items to Lebanon, organized by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Pakistan Army, and the Al-Khidmat Foundation.
The departure of the aid package was marked by the presence of representatives from the NDMA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Armed Forces, and the Al-Khidmat Foundation at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. The NDMA also arranged a special flight on October 9, 2024, to evacuate 79 stranded Pakistanis, who were welcomed back by local officials upon their return.

The humanitarian situation in Lebanon is dire, with over one million people displaced due to Israeli airstrikes, which have resulted in a critical need for aid. Recent reports indicate that more than 870 shelters have been established to accommodate those fleeing their homes, with the Lebanese health ministry working to support hundreds of thousands in need.
Previously, the NDMA sent a significant shipment of 40 tonnes of medical supplies to Gaza, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to providing assistance in the region.
