In a notable display of respect, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Grozny, Chechnya’s capital, for the first time in 13 years. He was warmly welcomed by Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechnya’s leader and Putin’s ally.
During his visit, Putin toured the new Grand Mosque, named after Prophet Isa (Jesus), with Kadyrov and the Grand Mufti of Chechnya. The visit’s highlight was when the Grand Mufti presented Putin with a rare Quran, which he kissed and held close to his heart, a gesture deeply meaningful to the Muslim community.

The Grand Mufti also recited a verse from Surah Al-Anfal in Arabic, providing a Russian translation to enhance the visit’s cultural and religious significance. This visit highlights the strategic importance of Chechnya within Russia and Putin’s commitment to strengthening relations with the region.
