Singapore sends cyborg cockroaches to aid Myanmar earthquake rescue

In a groundbreaking move, Singapore has deployed cyborg cockroaches to assist search operations in Myanmar after the deadly 7.7-magnitude earthquake that killed over 3,000 people.

Developed by HTX, Nanyang Technological University, and Klass Engineering, these insect-robot hybrids carry cameras and sensors to navigate rubble. Though no survivors have been found yet, they’ve aided in scanning hard-to-reach areas.

This marks the first real-world use of the technology, originally set for 2026.
