In light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Sweden and Finland have taken significant steps to prepare their citizens for potential war. Sweden began distributing millions of pamphlets, advising residents on how to prepare for possible crises, including war, natural disasters, and cyberattacks. The pamphlet, which will be sent to 5.2 million households, stresses the need for resilience and mental preparedness in the face of increasing military threats.

Finland, which shares a 1,340-kilometre border with Russia, launched a new website to help citizens prepare for different crises. Finland is also in the process of building a 200-kilometre border fence with Russia, a project expected to be completed by 2026.
Both countries, having abandoned their decades-long policy of military non-alignment to join NATO, are focusing on strengthening civil defense and military preparedness in response to the heightened security situation in Europe.
