Taliban to Punish Government Workers Missing Prayers

The Taliban government in Afghanistan has introduced penalties for employees who miss congregational prayers at a mosque, despite earlier mandates requiring attendance. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid announced these measures during an interview marking the third anniversary of their rule, emphasizing the enforcement of Sharia law.

Mujahid explained that employees who fail to attend prayers will face a tiered system of penalties, starting with a warning. Continued absences could lead to job transfers, demotion, or salary deductions. He also addressed the financial difficulties the government faces due to frozen central bank assets.
