Three Killed in Stabbing Incident at German Festival

Three people were killed and four others seriously injured in a Stabbing Incident at a festival in Solingen, Germany, on Friday night, according to police. Authorities are still searching for the unknown attacker.

Solingen Mayor Tim-Oliver Kurzbach expressed deep sorrow, stating, “It tears my heart apart that there was an attack on our city. I pray for all those who are still fighting for their lives.” Fatal attacks like this are rare in Germany.

The incident took place at the Fronhof market square, where live bands were performing. North Rhine-Westphalia’s interior minister, Herbert Reul, described it as a targeted attack but did not speculate on the motive.

In recent times, Germany has been working to tighten regulations on public knife possession. The attack follows other high-profile stabbings, including one in Mannheim in June and another on a train in 2021.
