Trump Claims That Defeating Kamala Harris Would Be Easier Than Defeating Biden

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he believes Vice President Kamala Harris would be easier to defeat in the November election than Democratic President Joe Biden, who had earlier stepped aside as the party’s candidate. Trump remarked that “Harris will be easier to beat than Joe Biden would have been.”

Trump and his campaign also criticized both Biden and Harris on social media, asserting that Biden was unfit to continue as president. Biden had withdrawn from the race earlier that day after Democrats expressed concerns about his mental fitness and ability to win against Trump. Biden endorsed Harris as his replacement.

Trump expressed on Truth Social that Biden was “not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve,” echoing sentiments from other Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, who called for Biden’s resignation.

Despite previously being closely matched in polls, Trump gained a slight edge over Biden following a recent debate. The Trump campaign began preparing for the possibility of Biden’s withdrawal, discussing how to allocate resources if a new Democratic candidate emerged.

Trump’s campaign has focused on linking Harris to Biden’s record on issues like immigration and inflation, portraying her as further left on various policies. They have also criticized her handling of immigration and used this as part of their broader strategy to attack her potential candidacy.
